Remember when we learned that a Michaels craft store is moving to Brentwood? That was first reported on our Facebook page. We regularly update the page with news and notes from the community that don't always make it to the Patch website. Stay in the know!

2) You Help Create the Conversation

Big stories generate important conversations in our communities. When a CVS Pharmacy was first proposed at the corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend Boulevard, six Maplewood residents talked about the pros and cons on our Facebook page. When I worked on a couple stories about Brentwood's 2012 budget, I answered several questions about the process on our Facebook page (which, in turn, helped me explain some of that information in our Patch stories).

3) Keep Your Neighbors Informed

When folks have questions about new businesses (like the ones proposed at Deer Creek Center), road closings (during fire calls on Brentwood Boulevard, for example), weather (with photos of damage after wind storms) and more, they turn to each other on our Facebook page to get answers. Let's help keep each other informed.

4) Stay Connected With Neighbors and Strangers

At Patch, it's not always about breaking news. Sometimes we just like a great conversation — like in November, when I found a hawk closely watching my dog in my Maplewood back yard. I wanted to know what kind of hawk s/he was, so I asked our fans on Facebook to help me out. It was an immature red-tailed hawk, by the way.

5) Extended Photo Galleries

We take every opportunity to post extended photo galleries on our Facebook page, like the Maplewood Christmas Tree Walk in December or the Maplewood Richmond Heights-Brentwood football game in November. These photo galleries don't always make it to the Patch website, but you can see every photo on Facebook (and even add some yourself!).
