Beginning in Oct., the Black Cat Theatre, in Maplewood, will be performing at the Mary Eliot Chapel at Mary Institute Country Day School, 101 North Warson Road. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported the move on Sept. 14.
The theater had been in operation for the past six years in what was originally Bettendorf's supermarket.
Maplewood resident and Patch contributer Doug Houser blogged that Joe Bettendorf, who is credited with bringing the supermarket concept to the St. Louis area, opened the store in 1929.

I thought I had seen a for lease sign, now its gone and their are permit papers on one of the doors. Doug Miner, do you have any scoop on this building? As mentioned in Harpers Pharmacy blog Doug Houser posted, there is some amazing wood work and display cases in there.
