Brentwood DARE Celebrates 25 Years

The Brentwood Police Department was the first in the state to adopt the program.

From the Brentwood Police Department website, Sept. 17 marked 25 years that the department has taught the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program in Brentwood schools.

The Brentwood Police Department was the first police department in the State of Missouri to teach DARE.

This week, Det. Nick Nilson is completing his DARE certification in Jefferson City.  He will be teaching the DARE program in the Brentwood schools this year.

DARE was founded in Los Angeles in 1983. Police officers teach school children how to resist peer pressure to live drug-free lives.
