Brentwood Police Officer Honored Twice

Assistant Chief Dan Fitzgerald was recognized at Monday's board of aldermen meeting.

A Brentwood Police Department officer has received an honor previously earned by only five Brentwood officers in the history of the department.

Major and Assistant Chief Dan Fitzgerald was recognized at Monday’s Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting for completion of the FBI National Academy course at Quantico, Virginia.

Police Chief Steve Disbennett said Fitzgerald less than one half of one percent of all police officers get to attend the FBI academy.

Officers must be nominated and invited to attend. They come from every state, U.S. territories, and partner nations, according to the FBI’s website.

At the same meeting he was also recognized for 30 years of service to Brentwood as a police officer.

“I started here as a patrolman and I'm still here,” he said. “It’s really neat being able to work where you grew up. I’ve been very blessed.”
