Brentwood, MRH Football All-State, All-District, All-Conference

Six Brentwood players made All-District, none from Maplewood Richmond Heights.

Following football season, coaches and members of the sports media vote for all-state and all-district teams.

Also, coaches in individual conferences vote for all-conference players. Maplewood Richmond Heights is in the Mississippi Area, White Division. Brentwood is is in a conference of independents.

Brentwood offensive and defensive lineman, senior David Rivera, made All-State in two polls. Six Brentwood players made All-District, while no MRH players did.

In MRH's conference, the Mississippi Area, White Division, MRH quarterback Kahlid Hagens, who threw for 2,048 yards, rushed for 1,203 yards and had 21 touchdowns, was given honorable mention. A Post-Dispatch sports writer thought Hagens and his teammates were snubbed.

Congrats to all the boys who were selected!
Of course, being the proud mom of one of the Brentwood players, I'm a little partial, so GO EAGLES!!

This is the proverbial "Catch 22". One would think the Mrh administrators would scream bloody murder to MSHSAA in defense of the kids in the football program, (and justifiably so). Except in doing so, there would undoubtedly be increased scrutiny of their program. The Question is "Why the snubbing"? The Answer is, because other area schools believe Mrh's concentration of talent is from recruiting kids from outside the district".

Maybe, just maybe MRH players aren't being snubbed but the program is.

Why? Well it could be the allegations of recruiting. Or it could be because there aren't too many schools that want to be associated with a football program that encourages thuggery and seems to actively discourage things like discipline and character. Just my opinion.
