About 16 Brentwood High School students showed up at social studies teacher Bryan Swearngin’s room to watch the Presidential debate and eat pizza last night.
Swearngin said it’s mostly some of the older kids.
“This is coming at a really good time for them,” he said. “I don’t see the Brentwood body as a whole getting fired up about the election.”
He said the students tend to lean left, though a significant portion are to the right as well. He said some in the room were talking about being in the Tea Party.
Sophomore, Ray Reed was at both Presidential debates.
“Obama was the favorite for the first debate, he’s probably still the favorite for this one, because he’ll come back, and learn from his mistakes,” Reed said before last night’s debate.
Allison Durham said her family talks about politics over dinnertime.
“I hope Obama is more on his game,” she said. “That would make for a more interesting debate.”
