Deer Creek Storefronts to Be Refaced, Stores Redesigned

The St. Louis Post Dispatch updated the plans for the Deer Creek Center.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported Sunday on the Maplewood City Council passing the Deer Creek redevelopment plan.

Patch reported on the decision on June 26.

The Post Dispatch article reported that in contrast to Deer Creek Center, other parts of Maplewood are doing well, commercially.

"Deer Creek's troubles have contrasted sharply with other parts of Maplewood, such as the business district around Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard, and Maplewood Commons, along Hanley Road. The Commons includes a Walmart, Sam's Wholesale Club and Lowe's along with numerous retail tenants.

The redevelopment taking place in Maplewood is trickling south and elsewhere in town, Traxler said. That includes two projects under construction — a Mini-Cooper dealership along Hanley Road and a CVS pharmacy at Manchester and Big Bend."
