Brentwood Drury Hotel to Break Ground in Spring 2013
City Administrator Bola Akande had no word on what restaurant will be on the site.
The Drury Hotel project is expected to break ground in spring 2013, a press release on the Brentwood city website stated on Sept. 26.
Also from the release:
Brentwood issued permits in September approving demolition and site clearance for a Drury Inn and Suites hotel and a restaurant outparcel at the southeast corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Eager Road.
The project site is approximately 3.97 acres, including a vacated MoDOT maintenance area and the Ultimate Bride and H.A. Rothman buildings. The redevelopment project consists of a 210 room 8-story hotel, with an 8,000 square foot restaurant outparcel. The hotel is 135,000 square foot.
Site clearance is expected to begin in October. Building permit plans will be submitted later this year. Actual hotel construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2013, with an expected opening date sometime late summer, 2014.
Director of Planning and Development Ellen Rottjakob said construction will take approximately 15 months.
Drury Development Corporation received final site development plan approval from the city in March, and closed on the both the MoDOT property and the remaining parcels at the site earlier this summer.
The City supports the project with public assistance in the amount of $5.75 million. In addition, the City and the developer worked with Saint Louis County Department of Public Works to establish the appropriate entrance and exit to the site at Agnes Avenue, Brentwood Boulevard and Eager Road. Annual hotel and restaurant sales are $9 million. The hotel will generate 50 permanent jobs and nearly 120,000 hours in construction jobs.
Akande said on Thursday that she has no news on what restaurant will be on the site.

It would be too awesome if that restaurant were to be a Damon's Grill & Sports Bar. Perfect location for it! I wonder why that chain hasn't yet moved into STL...BBQ and sports bar? What's better than that? Tony Roma's would be a decent option, too :)

How about *not* another chain restaurant around here - there's plenty of them, and they all taste the same.

DB, I hear ya...it's just that since it's a chain hotel, I'm assuming it'll have a chain restaurant. I'll be really disappointed if it turns out to be just another Chili's, though.
