Essence Brewer Takes Two Second-Place Finishes at Sectionals

The Maplewood-Richmond Heights Blue Devils had an impressive showing at the sectional track meet Saturday.

Nearly all of the track athletes who competed in Saturday's sectional track meet at Principia will move on to state. 

Essence Brewer got two second-place finishes in the 100 and 400-meter run, with unofficial times of 12.6 and 59.74 seconds, respectively. 

The Blue Devils also took first and second place in the boys 400-meter run. Montel Maggitt came in first with a time of 50.5 seconds and Laurence Hogue finished second with a time of 51.42.

Britney Bell took first in the shotput, throwing 39 feet, 4 inches. 

The team also had competitors in the boys 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays.
