An article in June about Jane Callahan opening Pie Oh My!, a fresh-baked pie shop in Maplewood, gained attention locally, but Callahan wasn't ready to announce the shop's location yet.
But now we know the bakery is planning to open at 2719 Sutton Boulevard at the corner of Marietta Avenue. Callahan gained preliminary approval from Maplewood City Council during a meeting on Tuesday night. The site was previously occupied by Archangels Books.
Callahan wasn't at the meeting.
When contacted previously, she wouldn't name an opening date, but the build-out started recently, and a public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11. The store's hours are expected to be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to her conditional use permit.
The store will have seating for about 12 diners. When contacted about the menu, Callahan would only say, "Stay tuned!"

I hope this will be as "homemade" as advertised. It is disheartening to me to go to bakery shops nowadays and see the beautiful things, then spend a lot of money to purchase them only to discover they are constructed of pre-manufactured elements, such as pre-made pie crusts, pre-made fillings, etc. One can purchase these items for less at grocery stores. I'm looking for the real deal.

Sue - I've had one of Jane's pies, and I believe her when she says she uses nothing frozen or canned. In the summer she said she uses what's in season.

I, myself, can hardly wait......I like pies a lot more than cakes. Like 100% more...lol. Especially home made.
