Girls Hoops: MRH Grabs Consolation Championship in Whitfield

A thrilling Blue Devils win over rival Eagles gave MRH the consolation championship.

In girls hoops last week, MRH won two of the three games it played, and took home the consolation championship at the Whitfield Invitational, after a thrilling 39-38 victory over archrival Brentwood in the consolation championship game.

Senior Antonia Lee, who had a career-high 24 points in the semifinals against St. Elizabeth’s, had 17 points in the consolation final, which MRH trailed 27-12 at halftime, but then outscored Brentwood 20-2 in the third quarter to spark itself to the win.

This week, MRH will be back at Whitfield for its only game of the week, Friday night at 4:30 p.m., in a non-conference matchup against the Warriors, who were the runners-up in last week’s tournament.
