Local Rappers Debut 'Freaky Muscato' at Saint Louis Cellars

Rappers Murphy Lee and Kyjuan of the St. Lunatics debuted their 'Freaky Muscato' wine on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, amid dozens of fans, rappers Murphy Lee and Kyjuan of the St. Lunatics premiered their "Freaky Muscato" wine at Saint Louis Cellars in Maplewood. This free event, with wine tastings, autograph signings and lively music, was a treat for wine fans and hip hop heads alike.

The large Saint Louis Cellars building was transformed into a hip hop haven as Kyjuan and Murphy Lee spoke about music, entertainment and wine. They actively engaged the crowd and were excited to premiere their new beverage. They even made up a catchy slogan on the fly: "Why get drunk when you can get freaky?" Kyjuan joked.

UCME Freaky Muscato is a sweet and aromatic wine made by Crown Valley Winery in Sainte Genevieve, MO, and distributed by Lohr Distributors. The fruity sparkling wine retails at Saint Louis Cellars for $19.99 and has a unique, unmatchable flavor.

"It has a sweet, champagne feel to it," Murphy Lee said.

Attendees were just as excited about tasting the Freaky Muscato as meeting the local celebrities. The wine itself was a huge hit, even amongst unlikely consumers.

"I'm not a big fan of sweet wines, but I really like this one," attendee Jane Montani said.

"The wine is tasty and sweet, with no aftertaste," attendee George Gully said. "I'm definitely a fan." Gully wasn't joking—he later bought an entire case of the sweet, bubbly beverage.

Such a strong showing begs the question: Will Murphy Lee and Kyjuan release any more wines? The answer is an emphatic yes.

"We want to reach everyone," the rappers said. "Red wine, non-alcoholic wine, sparking grape juice; we want to do it all."
