5 Most Dangerous Intersections, Maplewood Police Say
A Maplewood Patrol Commander said not paying attention and speeding are among causes.
The five Maplewood intersections with the most accidents are probably no surprise.
Two are part of the Maplewood Commons complex and three are major intersections on Manchester Road.
Maplewood Police Patrol Commander Lt. Mark Griffin sent Patch the list, and said they "obviously have a high volume of traffic on them which creates a greater chance of an accident."
He also said not paying attention and failing to comply with traffic laws, such as speeding and failing to yield to traffic, are the major contributing factors to accidents.
The five most dangerous intersections in Maplewood:
- Hanley Road and Corcoran Drive
- Corcoran Drive and Maplewood Commons Drive
- Big Bend Boulevard and Manchester Road
- Hanley Road and Manchester Road
- Sutton Boulevard and Manchester Road
Have you had any close calls, or worse, at any of these spots?

So they are building a CVS Pharmacy and want to put a mega QuickTrip at one of the 5 most dangerous intersections in Maplewood? That makes perfect sense. I am sure this will improve things greatly. *sigh*

When you are heading west on Folk towards Hanley the cars coming from Applebees and behinds Sam's gas station do not pay attention that the cars on Folk do NOT have a stop sign. I have had many close calls there. It needs to be a three way stop.

The dangers along Hanley Road are the consequence of the decision years ago not to extend the Inner Belt south of Eager. We can thank Brentwood and Webster Groves for that. Of course, had the Inner Belt been extended, Target, the Hanley Industrial Court, and the Maplewood Commons probably woundn't exist today. Interesting, there's now interest in constructing a "South County Corridor" in an attempt to correc this....

So can someone please explain to me how adding a QT at Big Bend and Manchester isn't going to increase the danger to my kids as they try to walk to school?

Can QT and the City REALLY expect us to believe that safety is not an issue?
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!????
