State Grant Awarded to Maplewood Police Department
The money will be used to purchase new ballistic helmets and shields.
A state grant will help the Maplewood Police Department buy seven ballistic helmets and six ballistic shields.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety awarded a $7,193 grant to the city under the Local Law Enforcement Block Program. Maplewood matched the grant by 10 percent in the amount of $719.
The helmets and shields will be placed in marked patrol cars for immediate access by officers.
Maplewood City Council approved the spending during last Tuesday's regularly-scheduled meeting.
