Mid-County Patch Readers Say Cyrano's Is the Most Romantic Place for a Valentine's Day Dinner

We had great participation for our Valentine's Day edition of Mid-County Food Fight. Here are your other top picks.

The people have spoken (or, at least, some of the people): Cyrano's Cafe & Wine Bar is the most romantic place to go in Mid-County for a Valentine's Day dinner.

Our Valentine's Day poll garnered 32 votes. Readers submitted romantic recommendations via our comments section, Facebook and Twitter.

There were seven restaurants in Mid-County that garnered votes—Acero Ristorante, Eclipse Restaurant, Cyrano's, Cafe Provencal, Mosaic-Des Peres, One 19 North and Citizen Kane's Steakhouse.

Cyrano's ended up with 25 percent of the vote. Here's how the other Food Fight finalists ranked:

  • Acero Ristorante — 12 percent
  • Eclipse Restaurant — 18 percent
  • Cafe Provencal — 15 percent
  • Mosaic-Des Peres — 9 percent
  • One 19 North — 3 percent
  • Citizen Kane's Steakhouse — 15 percent

Check back on Monday for next week's Food Fight! And, of course, have a very special Valentine's Day.

I fondly remember the original one on Demun. Had the cool Marantz (or was it Mcintosh?) stereo system on the steps leading downstairs to the Rathskeller. The basement Cyranos was the best place to go on a date. I believe it later briefly moved into the Shakey's Pizza on Big Bend, then many years later reopened in Webster...Nothing like splitting a Cleopatra on a date there!
