Morning Exchange: Blizzard Warning Issued; How's it Look From Your Door?
As a "crippling winter storm" sweeps through Maplewood-Brentwood, please consider sharing photos from your front door and letting us know which roads to avoid.
The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning on Tuesday morning for the St. Louis area. The warning remains in effect until noon on Wednesday.
The "crippling winter storm" is expected to bring 10 to 20 inches of snow with "significant accumulations of ice," the warning states. Winds of 30 miles per hour are expected to chill the region.
Brentwood, Maplewood Richmond Heights and St. Mary Magdalen schools have canceled classes today and more closings are expected in the area. If you hear of a closing in Maplewood-Brentwood, please share your news in the comments. I'll be compiling a list throughout the day.
Your View
What's the view from your front door? How do the roads look? Snap a photo and share it with the community by clicking "Manage your photos & videos" or e-mailing ryan.martin@patch.com.
I'll try to check on different neighborhoods and keep you updated on road conditions, but I hope you can help inform the community too. Are some roads particularly bad or clear? Did ice cause power outages in a certain area? Please spread the word in the comments section here or on Facebook. And if you think I specifically need to check on something, you can always e-mail or call me.
Where to Find Us
Most of our plans shifted yesterday as the winter storm approached St. Louis. We'll keep up with the storm while working on some of the following stories:
- What's the future of the Brentwood Recreation Complex and Ice Arena? Mary Konroy is looking into it.
- I'm still looking for more information on a potential 50-acre development in Maplewood.
- Michelle Blodget will bring you a story on a potential hotel/motel tax in Brentwood, as announced by City Administrator Chris Seemayer at the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce meeting last week.
Where else should we be? Have any tips or ideas to share? Let us know in the comments or contact me through any of the following ways:
