This past weekend Maplewood Richmond Heights football improved its record to 2-0, while Lamar High School, across the state, lost.

The result is that MRH now leads the state in Class 2 in a St. Louis Post Dispatch poll of football teams statewide.

The same poll, in STLhighschoolsports.com, ranks John Burroughs at the top of Class 3. The Blue Devils will face the Bombers in the ninth game of the season, on October 19 at home.

MRH plays Ste. Genevieve (2-0) at MRH on Friday at 7:00.

Brentwood football plays at Clopton (0-2) on Friday at 7:00.
