Mugs in the News: The Faces that Made This Week's Crime Headlines
The following mug shots were taken from various Patch crime reports between Dec. 29 and Jan. 4.
Information for Mugs in the News is provided by the St. Charles County and St. Louis County law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.

I'm not sure these should b posted. What if they were arrested for not paying a traffic ticket or something?

We don't post arrests for not paying traffic tickets. Most of the stories we do are on felonies or serious misdemeanors. All information given is pubic information.

So what if they were arrested for traffic tickets? There are dozens of people in jail for that. They are criminals by our standards. What if it was the 3rd dui? As the man said this is all public information.

I think its a good idea. Would be better if we knew why they were arrested.

That information is in the captions. Does that not come up when you open the article?

The Focus of the O'Fallon Patch, along with the Patch's across the country should be on "Winners in the News"...."Great Citizens in the News"..."Great Teachers in the News"..."Great Public Servants in the News"...MUGS IN THE NEWS is easy to put together because the information comes right from the various Police Departments...I never read this section of the Patch....Sadly, it is very popular....Why?

Keep posting these Patch. It's good for everyone to see the thugs we have in the community. You also do a great job in posting positive stories and community events. I look forward to getting your emails every morning.

The pictures make a stronger deterrent to crime than any other form of punishment. Once your face is out there, you're branded for life, I would be horrified knowing all my life long family and friends were looking at me for even the smallest of crimes, especially with no make up on!
