News Nearby: Raw Vegan Café to Open in Clayton

One of the new owners prepared food for 'high-profile people' on movie sets in California. Infused elixirs will be offered.

A new raw vegan café is set to open in Clayton’s DeMun neighborhood this spring.

The Clayton Board of Aldermen approved the opening of Seedz Café, at 6344 S. Rosebury Avenue, at the Feb. 26 meeting.

The owners, Montgomery Gralnick and Cara Schloss, originally from St. Louis, are coming from California. Gralnick said he prepared food for high-profile people who were very specific about the nutritional content of their diet. It was part of the work he did on movie sets, which he was involved in on the West Coast.

“I’ll say smoothies, but we’re going to introduce a new term, it will be infused elixirs.” They hope to put together some juice fasting and cleansing programs.

He said they’ll carry beer and wine from independent brewers and wine makers. They also want to work with local growers for their produce.

Schloss manages the whole body department at Whole Foods. “We couple together our experience in wellness,” Gralnick said.
