Polling Places Named for Monday's Carlson-Newman Special Election

The contest happens Monday, Sept. 24 at 16 locations in St. Louis County. Voters in the northwest section of Brentwood's Ward 4 will participate.

Sixteen polling places will be available to voters in the special election happening Monday, Sept. 24 between Democrats Stacey Newman and Susan Carlson. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m, and a list of locations is posted below.

Voters in Clayton, Richmond Heights, University City, Ladue and Brentwood will participate.

The special election for 87th District state representative is happening because incorrect ballots got handed out in August at a Brentwood polling place, the St. Louis Beacon reported.

"We really hope that people come out and utilize this special election as they should," said Rita Heard Days, director of elections for St. Louis County.

Monday's special election will be paid for by the state of Missouri, not St. Louis County, Days said. That's because the race at issue involves a state representative seat.

The election is expected to cost between $50,000 and $55,000, she said. Sufficient numbers of poll workers have signed up to help.
