Brentwood police report that a woman was sitting in her car in the Brentwood Square parking lot on Sunday when two men forced their way into her car.
That's according to an online report on KSDK news.
"The woman said just after 2 p.m. she was reading in her car on the parking lot when two men approach her vehicle. One of the men was armed with a handgun," the report states.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the woman was not injured, and that the suspects ordered her to take them back to the Brentwood Square Parking lot after stealing money from her back account with her ATM card, where they fled on foot.

From the Brentwood Police website, the suspects are described as two black men, both wearing black t-shirts, one in his 20s and the other, age 17 or 18, both with short haircuts.

Dec 2011- woman robbed at gun point on Eulalie in Brentwood after christmas shopping. Apr 2012-woman waiting in a running parked car on Bremerton taken to ATM and forced to withdraw cash then sexually assaulted in Brentwood park and released- thankfully. May or June 2012- several woman approached by a man in a vehicle with a gun demanding they hand over their purse, on the promenade/Target parking lot. July 2012- 4 men enter a home on Parkridge or Parkside (i forget which) at 8am. Homeowner had a gun pointed @ him and the trigger pulled but thank GOD it didn't fire. His wallet was taken and they were later caught due to neighbors outdoor camera. Aug 2012- and now this-- Kidnapping, robbery @ Brentwood Square occuring a 2pm in the afternoon. Serious crime in Brentwood is escslating. I pray it doesn't take someone getting shot & killed for it to b realized. More & more gun crimes are occuring! Police need to be patroling our shopping center lots and neighborhoods not sitting @ intersections running radar giving out tickets to generate more revenue for the city- and for what?? For elected officials to have free healthcare (glad that's over) or to buy more cars for city workers or to offer 100 grand to the church across from the library for their parking lot so the firemen don't have to park across the street- really?? Listen carefully-- it's time to allow the police force to be actual policemen & women and stop forcing them to "keep revenue up" by writing more tickets.

I couldn't agree more Sharon. I wonder why a more comprehensive description of the two men involved in the Brentwood Square crime wasn't broadcast; was it the media who chose not to include their race or was it the Brentwood Police Department who chose not to disclose it at that particular point. Surely the victim knew more than close-cropped hair and black t-shirts and I have to think the chances of apprehending these two would have been enhanced if citizens had full disclosure. This event is most disconcerting considering it happened on a busy weekend, in the middle of the afternoon, in a very busy strip mall and involved a gun and a kidnapping! Yeah, forget the traffic tickets Brentwood police, we need protection! I live here and shop here and so do my kids

Lynne and Sharon, to respond to your concern that race wasn't mentioned in the media report, I can respond that my article was based on what KSDK had at the time, because I couldn't reach a contact at Brentwood Police. KSDK's article didn't mention race. The Brentwood Police Department website now does mention race, and it's dated 8/12, though I don't know when it was posted there. It's a rule of thumb to mention race before a suspect is caught, but not after charges are made.

Describing the suspects as two men, with short hair does not give us much to go on! What race, nationality, what type of clothing, any tattoos or facial hair; did anyone else see these two men, did the video camera at the ATM machine show anything?

Ann - I talked to Brentwood Detective Sgt. Jim McIntyre this morning and he didn't have anything else to report or add. The Brentwood Police Department has a Facebook page that Major Dan Fitzgerald takes care of. I'm sure he'd be happy to take your comment there. It's worth a try.

The Brentwood Police Department describes the suspects as black males with black t-shirts....that is a little more to go on, if anyone was in the area at the time.

Ugh...... I am so ready to move. This isn't the great community that we moved into 23 years ago. Can't even go shopping during the day now for fear of being attacked?!?!?! I realize that this can happen anywhere, but it really is getting to be crazy how often it is happening in Brentwood. Need to call my realtor friend!
