2 MRH School Board Terms to Expire, Current Members Will Run

Seats held by Brooke Rintoul and Nelson Mitten will be up for election in April 2013.

Two Maplewood Richmond Heights School Board seats are up for election in 2013, and the members holding those seats are running to keep them.

Nelson Mitten has served on the board the past 15 years.

"Despite the fact that the district has come this far, I still feel we have some work," Mitten said. "There are issues, especially in light of the success of the distrtict. We're having a growing student population, and we need to address that to make sure the school district contiues to improve. I'd like to be a part of that work."

Brooke Rintoul, the current secretary of the board, is finishing her first term. She said she and her husband have two daughters who joined the district three years ago.

"Our district has experienced a true transformation, but there is much work to be done to keep us moving forward," she said. "I feel very strongly that every child has the right to a high quality education. My background in education provides me with a different lens to look at curriculum, teaching and learning, and student performance."

Pursuant to Missouri statutory requirements this is to notify the public that anyone interested and qualified to file for the office of Director, Board of Education, Maplewood Richmond Heights School District, shall file not sooner than Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 8 a.m. nor later than Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 5 p.m.  

Two seats, each carrying three-year terms, are up for election. This election will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. An applicant must file his/her declaration of candidacy at the office of the Board of Education, 7539 Manchester Road, Maplewood, Missouri 63143.

Administrative offices will be closed December 24, 25, 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013. The office of the Board of Education will remain open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise posted. Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that MRH School District offices are closed due to inclement weather.
