Should The New Mississippi River Bridge Be Named After Stan Musial?
A KMOX petition campaign is gaining steam and prominent Missouri State Senators are backing the idea with legislation.

In the days since Stan Musial passed away Saturday night, tributes have poured in from around St. Louis, the baseball world and beyond. Everyone, it seems, has a Stan Musial story.
He may already have a statue outside Busch Stadium, but something even bigger could be on the way.
KMOX Radio has started a petition campaign urging the Governors of Missouri and Illiniois to name new bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Musial's honor. KMOX reports the bridge will be finished next year.
Late Tuesday afternoon, State Senators John Lamping (R-Ladue) and Eric Schmidt (R-Glendale) confirmed that they had filed legislation on the issue. Lawmakers in both Missouri and Illinois must agree on the official name of th bridge.
Visitation for Musial, who died at the age of 92, will be held Thursday at Cathedral Basillica of St. Louis, with a funeral service and a procession to his statue at Busch, scheduled for Saturday.

Yes, absolutely! I can't come up with a better name than Stan Musial! As for Ernie Banks...the last time I checked he was still alive.

How about naming it after Chuck Berry? The man is a cultural icon all over the world, and gets so little respect here in his hometown.

Nope, it's gotta be Stan the Man. Besides, then they could paint giant baseball bats on the bridge supports and it would look really cool too.

Cloverleaf Insurance 8005305822 really likes the idea of calling the new bridge the Stan-Span. Stan Muscial is a person who has stood the test of time with no skeletons to ruin his reputation. He was a good guy. Go Stan-Span!!
