TwinOak Celebrates 1 Year, Supports Susan G. Komen
The Friedrichs set up a dunking tank and sent the proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Casey and Curt Friedrichs wanted to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their restaurant, twinOak Wood Fired Fare in a meaningful way.
A friend's mother recently lost her battle with breast cancer, so they decided to make it a fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure as well.
They set up a dunking tank and charged for throws: dunk an owner and get a free pizza.
"It's just a fun and cheesy way to do it," Casey Friedrichs said. He said they raised about four times as much as they thought they would for the charity.
He said the only ringer was Clark Amos, the owner of Springhill Suites, next door.
"He dunked me twice with 15 balls," Friedrichs said.
Asked how the restaurant business is, after a year, Friedrichs said he's grateful to be breaking even.

TwinOak is wonderful! The food is great (i love the dipping dough app and the chocolate chip cookie/ice cream dessert) and the service is delightful. This is one of our family favorites.
