I put in extra days working out at my gym so I could consume more pumpkin pie. After one such workout, I shortcut through the Richmond Heights Memorial Library.
At the East entrance are several free magazine racks. In one of these, a new quarterly magazine caught my eye. "Splendid", www.makelifesplendid.com, has a tag-line of "Celebrating the Good in Life."
The publisher is listed as Dancing Dog Productions, 6153 Victoria Ave, St Louis, MO, 63139. (You may also access the magazine on FB, Twitter, and Pinterest or get a mailed subscription for $12.00/year).
Volume 1, Number 2 has articles on the color of apples, messes that kids make, and "the intersection of art and nature", Laumeier Sculpture Park. Joanne Kluba, creator of Paper Birds, is the featured artist. Ms Kluba makes art books, scrapbooks, and small run editions of books.
This new magazine has excellent prose, even better photographs, and small business ads, like the one for Roots, www.rootsantiques.com.
The ads are a good reminder that "Small Business Saturday" is tomorrow, November 24---the antidote to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So be thankful this long holiday weekend and patronize some of my favorite small businesses to fill your holiday wish lists. Some of these include Kaldi's, The In and Out, Parker's Table, and the Holiday Bazaar at St Louis Artists Guild.

"Thanks for the mention ... Loved your visit!", said Penny, one of the owners of Roots.
