It is hard to put into words the loss we feel today. One of our regular Coffee Club skaters has left us. We are grateful to have honored him before his passing, but that doesn’t stop the sadness that we are experiencing. He was a skater, in hockey skates. He was a judge at Porsche competitions and shows. He was an airplane pilot and instructor. He was an Army Air Corps/Air Force officer and a WW II/Korean War hero. He was modest and he was strong.  Above all else, OAKLEY ALLEN WAS A GENTLEMAN.

We will miss his smile. We will miss his quiet strength. We will miss his encouragement. We will miss his positive attitude. We will miss seeing his Porsche on warm days. We will miss his handsome face, because you see, at 90 he still looked like the dapper pilot he was in 1944.

They say he experienced a heart attack and died instantly. We know better. Somewhere, high above us, Oakley took the stick, raised the nose of his Saberliner jet and headed for the heavens.
