The Maplewood Christmas Tree Walk was a huge success.
Streets were "spruced up" and decorated, the huge Christmas tree in Citizens National Bank Park was a perfect backdrop for photos, and there was more chocolate, cider, cookies, and candy canes than you can imagine.
New chocolatier, Tom Kavanaugh of The Ugly Candy Co, handed out sidewalk samples of his ugly candy. His confections consist of tasty morsels of cashews, butterscotch, and chocolate. When asked what gave the candy samples their salty crunch, Tom responded that chow mien noodles were the secret ingredient. He makes his candy at The City Museum and sells on-line and mail order, www.uglycandy.com.
The Hermann London Realtors were passing out candy canes. They had run out of cookies as there were so many children in strollers and on foot. The most popular event was the carriage ride. People lined up for 45 minutes to get a ride. Enjoy the photos!
