Business is Up For Pizza World Since Moving From Deer Creek to Shrewsbury

The shop moved out of Deer Creek Center last year.

Since moving to Shrewsbury about a year ago, Pizza World’s business has been up, owner/manager Tim Miller said. Pizza World moved out of the Deer Creek Center before the center was redeveloped with Ross Dress for Less, Joann’s Fabrics, Buy Buy Baby, Marshalls and other large national retailers as anchors. Miller said the new space, at 7504 Murdoch Avenue, is smaller than his Deer Creek location but business from the nearby neighborhood has made up for it. Miller is 25 and has worked at the shop since he was 16. He and Virgil Avamzado bought the store from Robert Goombas in January 2012. Since then Avamzado has left, leaving Miller as the only owner. He added beer last summer, and said it didn’t add greatly to his business. The pizza itself…

Falling In Love With The Piccadilly's Fried Chicken

You can't go wrong with a half order of chicken (with honey) at this Ellendale restaurant, according to Feast Magazine.

Earlier this year Riverfront Times' Gut Check asked readers to vote for their favorite of St. Louis' "most underrated fried chicken"-- and The Piccadilly at Manhattan got snubbed. King Edward's Chicken & Fish ran away with 63 percent of the poll vote, while Piccadilly's 'close second' earned less than 17 percent. Feast Magazine, however, will not let the Ellendale restaurant's efforts be overlooked. They're even baiting you to take a bite with this mouth-watering photo of honey being drizzled over the chicken. "Any option you opt for will offer up a serving of fried chicken sporting a light golden hue and a moist, tender interior that will have you repeatedly reaching for the nearest napkin, or better yet, one of the wet naps that your …

Maplewood Council, School Board Agree on QuikTrip Changes

Proposed changes to the ordinance were passed unanimously without discussion.

A month after Maplewood voters approved Proposition Q, allowing QuikTrip to relocate to the northwest corner of Manchester and Big Bend, the agreement is on its way to being changed. QuikTrip may no longer buy the property on Big Bend for a cut-through street to the school. Southbound traffic may be allowed on Martini Drive, rather than being totally blocked, and solar-powered lights may warn motorists of pedestrians at crosswalks. The Maplewood city council Tuesday made the first two votes out of three to amend the planned unit development (PUD) unanimously and without discussion. The council was minus Mayor James White and Ward 3 Councilman Shawn Faulkingham. Join Maplewood-Brentwood Patch for more community news or join us on Facebook …
