Orchids have long fascinated us.
Mention of them can be found in literature from around the world, Greek and Roman myths, and even Shakespeare. They can also be found in medicine and folk culture as well as magic. How did this occur? What makes them different from other flowers in the world?
Carol Gravens has a real passion for orchids. She is a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist with the
Missouri Botanical Garden and will guide us through
the world of these fascinating and beautiful plants.
NOTE: The annual Orchid Show will be running at the Garden from February 2 through March 31, 2013.

More About Maplewood Public Library
The Maplewood Public Library opened the doors at this new location behind the aquatic center in 2007. Before the move, the library housed its collection in the city hall building. The new building—the former community center—allowed the library to add meeting rooms, and it offers more space for public computer access. Browse the Internet on one of the library's 12 computers, take a book into the reading room or venture downstairs to the children's library. As the tag line reads, the library has "Great service in a great space."
