The TKT Jazz Scholarship Concert—A Centennial Celebration: Jazz Interpretations of the Music of Jimmy Van Heusen
The TKT Jazz Scholarship Benefit Concert commemorating the legacies of Terry Jackson, Kirk Cappello and Tony Saputo (TKT), three former Webster University music students who, as members of Reba McEntire’s road band, were killed in a tragic 1991 airplane crash. The scholarship was established by their family and friends to provide assistance to music students showing exceptional professional promise.
The TKT Jazz Scholarship Concert—A Centennial Celebration: Jazz Interpretations of the Music of Jimmy Van Heusen will feature jazz vocal interpretations of songs written by the great American composer Jimmy Van Heusen. Featured performers include vocalists Erin Bode, Sherry Drake, and Charles Glenn and guest bassist Steve Kirby. They will be accompanied by Webster Jazz faculty members Paul DeMarinis, Steve Schenkel, Kim Portnoy, Carolbeth True, Willem von Hombracht and Kevin Gianino.
This year's TKT student recipients will also perform. Among the repertoire to be performed are "Imagination," "I Thought About You," "Like Someone in Love," "It's Always You," "It Could Happen to You," "Darn That Dream," "Here's That Rainy Day" and "Love Won't Let Me Walk Away." All proceeds from the concert benefit the TKT scholarship established in memory of Terry, Kirk and Tony.
