So who are the candidates that are going to be attending? I would LOVE Chris Koster to be there. He has left out how he is "getting Volunteers" to staff the pubic defenders. His office has evidently been hit by budget cuts to the extent that he has put lawyers int he state notice that they could be pulled to do gratis work anywhere inthe state by lawyers. My understandin is the lawyers do not even have to have any experience in the type of cases they are given!

Interesting observation Kay! My understanding is that his office did have layoffs but that these were the result of increasing the pay level for the top tier of attorneys to make them more competitive with industry. To pay for these raises, he had to let some juniors go. This has caused the shortage and some of the issues you identified. Wisdom? Favoritism?
Tonight's program includes Robyn Hamlin, candidate for 1st District, US Congress and representatives from the campaigns of Dave Spence, Governor; Ed Martin, Attorney General: Elizabeth Deal, Missouri House District 91. The format is to provide the candidates a speaking forum but allow a few questions from the audience.
Are you planning on attending? We'd love to see you! Look me up when you get there.
