Animal Protective Association Wins $20,000 in Monsanto Grow St. Louis Contest

The pups at the APA will soon have new pads. The shelter's Kennels for Canines project was voted one of five winners in the Monsanto Grow St. Louis contest.

The contest, held on Facebook, allowed community members to vote for the organization and cause they wanted to see win a $20,000 prize. The prizes went to five organizations in distinct categories - arts and culture, community and family services, education, health and fitness, and animals welfare and conservation. The APA project will replace the metal bars on the large-dog kennels with glass doors, which are healthier, less stressful, and friendlier than metal rods.

"We are very excited to see this type of community support for our shelter," said APA Executive Director, Steve Kaufman. "These new enclosures will be a major improvement to our kennels and help us in our adoption efforts."
