The idiocy of outsourcing our 911 calls...

Went door to door to residents in the Second Ward (Cindy Manestar and Lee Wynn.)  BIG SURPRISE:  a whole lot of people had  no idea this was what the Mayor was doing--and eagerly signed to protest this move. The outsourcing is to a for profit company who wants to get as many Cities under it's purview collecting payment--instead of backing the First Responders decision that we need to keep our 911's inhouse.  I'm exhausted--but Brentwood is in mismanagement crisis--and people have no idea of what is going on in City Hall.  Get a clue.  Keep residents informed and START LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE.  City Hall is currently appearing DEAF to the informed residents. And keeps the uninformed residents in the dark.   Ughhh...Put the residents FIRST and stop trying to slither the Mayoral agenda down people's throats. It's so disrespectful to the community.

East Central Dispatch Center (ECDC) is a domestic non-profit corporation.

"Domestic non-profit" can mean anything you want it to mean. Whenever a NFP wants bigger and bigger slices of the pie, they can maneuver TAX dollars--this time BRENTWOOD tax $ into administrative pockets and perks, still calling themselves NFP. That is de facto profit, just not to share holders. City Hall has a real credibility problem---don't make 911 emergency situations part of City Hall's credibility problem. Somebody expects to pocket the income from ECDC's efforts to wrangle Brentwood tax money too. So there is a profit motive. Any First Responder delays, such as we have been reading and hearing about carries more weight than having an Administrative agenda forced down our throats. And these recent magnet call center foul ups are only the ones we know about. You know there is ALWAYS more "dirt" where that came from--but "dirt" doesn't sell their product. So why should they tell Brentwood. Keep the dispatchers in-house. Thank you for your response. I hope I helped clear up the semantics of NFP and how profit is a reality shuffled around.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY POST? Any time a NFP wants a bigger slice of the pie--there IS a profit motive. It just goes into administrators pockets. ECDC is not a charity and we all know how very wealthy the administrators can become while remaining NFP. It's kind of like Bank administrators spearheading projects that will be financed by that same administrators place of employment. It is a sematic distinction without a difference. manipulation. Someone is getting the money---which means there is a manipulated profit motive.

Dear James Tiberius--I failed to thank you for your response. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make more transparent the variations of the use of "profit." ps. I love your screen name. The apostles James and John were also called "the Sons of Thunder!" Again thank you. maureen
