Brentwood Makes 'Hip, Trendy and Fun' List, Not Maplewood

Brentwood ranked #2 in Missouri cities in an analysis of places for social seekers by Coldwell Banker and Onboard Informatics, the St. Louis Beacon reported.

is second on a list among the best Missouri cities for people who are "hip, trendy and fun at heart," reported the St. Louis Beacon, quoting from a Coldwell Banker news release.

Clayton is number one on the list, and didn't make it.

Coldwell Banker collaborated with Onboard Informatics on the analysis.

Quoting from the Beacon article:

"The report is the first in a series of five that looks at categories such as 'suburbanites, adventure-seekers, leisure lovers and culture cravers.'"

That's too bad... I guess maybe I'm no longer hip, trendy or fun, but with Schlafly, Vom Fass, Kakao Chocolate, Flying Tigers motorcycle shop, and tons of other independent local businesses, I'd rather go to Maplewood any day. I know I'm biased but the only thing I can think of in Brentwood is the promenade stores and those are mostly chains. Am I missing something?

** I apologize for sounding like I'm bashing Brentwood... I am guessing I am missing the hip & trendy spots there and someone will fill me in... just surprised Maplewood didn't make the list as well!

it is a subjective study. What one person sees as hip, trendy and fun, another doesn't. Look at the people flocking in to Maplewood to shop, eat and have fun. It's a good place, it doesn't matter that it didn't make that list.

I wouldn't put too much faith in these 'lists'. Usually they are just marketing ploys wrapped up in a 'best of' disguise. Brentwood is a very nice community, but to call it 'hip' is a stretch. because it has a Whole Foods?

Brentwood only ranked so highly because of its proximity to Maplewood.

I find this report absurd! Maplewood is a "happening" city and the proof is in the pie or chocolate or wine or spices or menu's of multiple restaurants or art work or you name it, it is in Maplewood!

I agree with the other comments. What does Brentwood have that Maplewood doesn't? I lived in both, and as far as "hip" I'm not sure, because trendy and hip are just other words for sucky and full of hipsters. So, if Maplewood isn't "hip" that's fine. We'll keep the Bottleworks, Saratoga, Tiffany's, and basically the Manchester strip. Brentwood can keep.... OB Clarks?? The Trainwreck? Please... the only place that's cool is Carl's!!!

Can't argue with any of the above comments. Perhaps Brentwood is so trendy because of all the political noise. But looking at the details on the right side of Brentwood's page (http://bestplaces.coldwellbanker.com/best-places-to-live/mo/Brentwood-PL2908236.html), there's an explanation of what the study means by "Rank and Score" and "Social Seekers". I'm not sure I agree but they're not just grading restaurants and bars, otherwise Maplewood would definitely win.

I like Brentwood a whole lot. It's fun, but not hip and trendy. I think Coldwell Banker has some inventory in Brentwood they want to unload.
