VIDEO: Sun Shines on Good Friday Prayer Walkers

Despite falling on a day marked by stormy skies, the final leg of a Baptist prayer walk across Missouri was graced by at least a few hours of blue skies.

A group of Missouri Baptists observed this year's Easter celebration by joining together to carry an 80-pound wooden cross from Kansas City to St. Louis.

The event—named Carry the Cross Across Missouri—was conceived as a way to encourage members of the church community to share their faith with others. The final leg of the 10-day prayer walk began early on the morning of Good Friday from the in Wildwood. After setting a pace that put them nearly an hour ahead of schedule, the walkers began making regular stops for prayer, including numerous devotionals in Brentwood and Maplewood.

Despite sometimes heavy winds and rain earlier in the day, members of completed their portion of the pilgrimage under sunny skies. The final group to carry the cross was from Tower Grove Baptist church, which hosted a prayer meeting at the completion of the journey.
