Viewfinder: Egg Hunters Persist Despite Spring Showers

The kids weren't deterred by raindrops on Saturday morning at Ryan Hummert Park, uncovering almost 2,000 candy-filled eggs.

Good spirits prevailed on Saturday morning as the Easter egg hunt sponsored by Maplewood's Concordia Lutheran Church forged ahead despite the spring showers. Many of the over 100 parents and kids chatted and ate hot dogs under the picnic shelter as they waited for the hunt to begin.

Church member Cecil Valdez grilled and hawked free hot dogs and Pastor Ron Rall helped pass out the dogs. A giant fuzzy Easter bunny hugged and high-fived. After a reminder to attend the Easter service on Sunday, the egg-hunters took off at the drop of an egg by the giant bunny.

This was the third year for the church's Easter egg hunt, and the second year it was held in Ryan Hummert Park.
