VIDEO: Harpists Fill Maplewood Streets, Shops During ArtsWalk

Maplewood's business district stayed open late as shops hosted artists and musicians for its spring ArtsWalk event.

The sidewalks of Maplewood's downtown business district were full of shoppers and strollers on Friday evening as local stores and galleries featured artists and musicians during the spring ArtsWalk. Balmy temperatures brought out especially large crowds and the confetti-like petals sifting down from the neighborhood's flowering trees added to the festive atmosphere.

Professional harp player and Maplewood resident Terri Langerak coordinated much of the night's live entertainment, presenting performances by about 20 of her harp students inside the businesses along Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard. Langerak performed an eclectic mix of classical, jazz and rock music at the sweets shop Chocolate, choosing that venue, she said, because of its spaciousness and the added perk of getting to enjoy the smell of chocolate all evening.
