Update: Maplewood-Richmond Heights School Transfers Increases to 40

On Monday, the CSD released figures for students transferring to the district from unaccredited districts. At that time the number was 14.

School resumes on Tuesday, and updated figures have been released since Monday which reveal that instead of 14 students heading into the Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District from unaccredited schools, 40 are on the way.

MRH Superintendent Karen Hall sent an email to parents that welcomed students back for the new school year.

"We are proud of the many accomplishments we've made together and look forward to the future and continuing to provide the highest level of education for our children," she said in the email. "MRH is known throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, and beyond, as a district that is a shining example of inclusiveness and diversity.

"This year we have the privilege of welcoming students who are transferring to MRH from the Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts."

Hall said the district would welcome 40 new students while honoring guidelines from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and abiding by the MRH Board of Education and the community's desire to maintain small class sizes.

"The 40 students are evenly distributed across all grade levels...," she said. "This increased enrollment will not alter MRH's commitment to provide every student - both those who reside here and those who transfer to MRH - a high quality education.

"Our goal has been, and will continue to be, to do what is in the best interest of all our students."

Hall closed out her note asking parents and the school community to welcome the new students and families.
