Best Sandwich Recipe Could Win $10,000, Free Bagels

The winner of St. Louis Bread Co.'s Sandwich Showdown, which runs through Oct. 6, will also see their sandwich creation on selected menus across the U.S.

Hey all you fans of the St. Louis Bread Company, Bread Co. is looking for the best new sandwich in the U.S. Think you have what it takes to craft a legendary sandwich recipe?

Submit your idea online through Oct. 6 at www.TLC.com/Panera. Find a list of toppings and ingredients that can be combined with the Bread Co.’s artisan breads, then use the interactive tool to assemble and submit your gourmet creation.

The winner receives a grand prize of $10,000, free bagels for a year, a $500 gift certificate and a featured placement on the Panera Bread menu in January.

After all entries are submitted, the top 20 sandwich ideas will be selected. The top four runners-up will each receive $1,000 in cash and a $150 Panera Bread gift card.

The 15 remaining finalists will each win a $150 Panera Bread gift card.

During the month of January of 2013, a portion of proceeds from the sale of each winning sandwich will be donated to a non-profit organization.

This is the second year Panera has held a "create a sandwich" in the St. Louis area. Sales of last year's winner, the BLTT, ended up sending $2,500 to St. Louis Children's Hospital from the 12,000 BLTTs sold locally in January, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
