Borders to Close Doors, Hold Liquidation Sale

The sale could begin as early as this week.

National bookstore chain Borders announced Monday that it will move forward with the sale of the company to a pair of firms which will liquidate what's left of the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based firm, including in Brentwood.

In a statement released Monday, Borders President Mike Edwards said, "We were all working hard towards a different outcome, but the headwinds we have been facing for quite some time, including the rapidly changing book industry, eReader revolution, and turbulent economy, have brought us to where we are now."

A liquidation sale of all books could start as early as this week.
