Valentines Means Busy Times for Maplewood's Kakao Chocolate

When you go, check out the windows!

A Maplewood business that makes something very popular on Valentines Day is getting ready for a busy couple of days.

Kakao Chocolate is making lots of truffles.

The difference between Christmas and Valentines Day shopping is Christmas lasts for almost two months, and Valentines Day is “two days of last minute shoppers,” she said.

McKay said they’ll have the traditional heart-shaped chocolate boxes and heart-shaped boxes made out of chocolate and lots of packaging and basket ideas. They also have chocolate lip balm and candles from Maven, four doors down Manchester Road.

When you go, look for an unusual window treatment.

Employee Tracy Codner had the idea for a pink, purple, orange and yellow plaid decorations.

“I had a couple of ideas for the window, and sketched them out.” She said Brian (Pelletier, the owner) was "cool with it."

Codner said it took her about 20 hours of work, within one week, to do the job.
