Strange Donuts Opens: "Very Delicious, Very Strange"

The first in line, from Benton Park, got there at 3:30 a.m.

The line down the sidewalk was 50-strong when Maplewood's Strange Donuts opened Friday at 6 a.m. The first in line, from the Benton Park neighborhood, arrived at 3:30 a.m. The second in line lived half a block away.

The shop was stocked with 'classics' such as glazed, pumpkin spice and chocolate, and 'creations,' like 'kid stuff' and 'Barry Greenberg.' (Barry Greenberg is a Maplewood Ward 3 councilman.)

The line was still out the door at 8:30 a.m.

Strange Donuts, at 2709 Sutton Boulevard, is open everyday from 6 a.m. to noon and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to closing (whenever that works out to be.)
