Maplewood Chamber Seeks Annual Awards Nominees

Nominations for citizen, business person and educator of the year are currently being accepted.

The is accepting nominations for three awards it hands out every year.

Nominations for citizen, business person and educator of the year will be accepted until Sept. 9. The winners will be announced during the chamber's 2011 Dinner Auction on Oct. 14.

The nomination forms, which are attached to this article, outline the criteria for each award. Nominators must also submit a letter of recommendation for the nominees.

The citizen of the year award "honors an outstanding citizen who has worked passionately and tirelessly to promote Maplewood as a great place to live, work and visit. He/she consistently performs extraordinary acts on behalf of others and/or whose achievements have greatly enhanced the quality of life for Maplewood residents," the nomination form notes.

The business person of the year award "honors a business person who is committed to local economic development and demonstrates community leadership by participating in community activities and contributing his/her personal time, effort and resources. He/she will display exemplary and ethical business practices in addressing quality, customer service and social responsibility," the form notes.

Finally, the educator of the year award "honors an educator who exemplifies educational excellence, inspires children to reach their fullest potential and has earned the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues," the form notes.
