Maplewood Comic Shop Manager Leery of New Star Wars Movie

A new Star Wars could many directions, said Dan Kinsella, manager of Maplewood's Fantasy Shop comic book store.

After six Star Wars films, we know find out there will be a seventh.

Disney announced it’s buying Lucasfilm on Tuesday, and will release Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015.

Will we see Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca on the big screen again?

According to Maplewood’s Fantasy Shop manager, Dan Kinsella, there’s no telling where the next movie could go.

“There’s 250 novels, thousands of comics, that are all in continuity, so where do you tell a story within the story that's already been told? That’s the big concern,” he said.

Kinsella said Lucas is the "emperor of his media franchise."

“Between the films, the cartoons, the novels, it’s all one story and all one universe,” Kinsella said. “No other media franchise does that, and whether that is maintained from this point on is debatable.”

Disney will be able to refer to the ‘Holocron,’ the Star Wars ‘wookieepedia’ that tracks the history of the Star Wars universe.

“Its everything,” Kinsella said. “It’s names of companies, the number of species; anyone working within the franchise can refer to (the Holocron). It maintains continuity between everything.”

Kinsella said he doesn’t think the Disney acquisition is inherently bad.

“I grew up a huge fan of Disney. I’m probably the biggest Star Wars fan I know of in a 30-mile radius, so in all honestly, it makes perfect sense," he said. "We’ll see what happens.”

The Fantasy Shop sells everything Star Wars, plus comic books and a lot more.

What do you think about Star Wars VII? Looking forward to it?
