Mystic Valley Moves to Manchester Road

A long-time Maplewood business is now much more visible.

didn’t renew its lease at Deer Creek Center, due to the redevelopment, and has moved to the former Drum Headquarters location on Manchester Road.

“Basically Deer Creek told me to start looking around,” owner, Kristy Ponticello said.

She and her two sisters, Dina and Traci Ponticello, are partners. Their father, Vito Ponticello, started the store 25 years ago and it’s been at Deer Creek for the last 19.

They sell books and spiritual items such as crystals and incense, and hold classes in astrology and divination, among others.

Ponticello said they took the location because they were running out of time, and they love it.

“We’ve always wanted to be in this area, but didn’t have a spot that we really liked,” she said. “We love the neighborhood, the traffic, the events.”

Compared to Deer Creek, she said the new location has much more energy.

“People are walking up and down the street,” she said. “Deer Creek Plaza was really vacant. There wasn’t a whole lot going on.”

She said they have the same customers and some new ones. The new store has the tea and coffee counter that was at the old one.

Ponticello said more consultation space and a bigger classroom is an improvement.

“We’re hoping to start yoga classes up soon and tai chi and chi-gong, which we didn’t have at the other space because it was so small.”
