Newest Maplewood Business Sells High-Tech Lighting

St. Louis Lighting Group has moved to Maplewood from a smaller space in Webster Groves.

St. Louis Lighting Group, Maplewood’s newest business, this week moved into what was originally Maplewood’s Sears and Roebucks, at 7414 Manchester Road.

The company designs lighting systems for corporate clients, so the lights in their new space are the most advanced. Most are LEDs.

Designer and salesman Matt Jarboe said LED lighting is more energy efficient and require little maintenance.

He said LEDs will give about 50,000 hours of usable light, which equates to 10 to 15 years, but St. Louis Lighting won’t keep them that long.

“We will probably be changing them out as we redesign the space, since we are a lighting presentation firm,” Jarboe said.

A room he called the war room is all LED, fully dimmable, and fully controllable.

“I can grab any single fixture via controller, and assign it to do anything I want,” Jarboe  said. “Wiring doesn’t matter. They’re all intelligent fixtures. They’ll all sync up to touch screens as well as a computer. We can do whatever we need from an ipad or laptop. Our server can control the lighting in the entire space.”

The building is owned and was renovated by David Schlafly.

The tenant in the other side of the space, when it is completed, is Wolfe Architecture.
