QuikTrip Hopes to Have Building Demolished by Start of School
QuikTrip hopes to have the big gray building on the corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend Boulevard gone by the time school starts.
Communications director for QuikTrip Mike Thornbrugh told Patch on Tuesday the building will be demolished in July and August. He said he couldn’t be any more specific about dates.
When that is finished he said it would take five to six months to build the service station.

Owner of the building, Dan Lesseg, could only speak generally too. He said asbestos abatement would begin in the next several weeks, and demolition could start when that was done.
QuikTrip is moving its Maplewood station from 3010 S Big Bend Boulevard to the corner of Manchester and Big Bend. The move was opposed by the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District on grounds of safety at the intersection.

Maplewood voters approved the move in a vote on a proposition in April.
