QuikTrip, Vom Fass and Street Improvements on Maplewood Council Agenda

Also, Roots Antiques requests to move into the Tigerlily space on Manchester.

At the Maplewood City Council meeting, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday the council will consider revising the ordinance that allowed QuikTrip to move, allowing Roots to move to the space that Tigerlily is vacating, and Vom Fass's request for a liquor license.

Item no. 9 is a motion to approve a request for a full liquor license by Mark Williams of Vom Fass. Vom Fass would like to be able to serve wine by the drink along with cheese plates, and at the same time obtain a caterer’s license.

Item no. 10 is a resolution authorizing the city manager to accept the low bid for the 2013 capital improvements street project. The streets to be improved are Richmond Place (Big Bend to Sutton Blvd.); Gayola Place (Big Bend to Oakview Terrace); Yale Avenue (High Street to Lyndover Place); Woodland Avenue (Big Bend to Oakland) and Edgar Avenue (Elm to Railroad Street). 

Item no. 11 is a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a real estate contract to acquire 2270-2272 Yale Avenue from Frontenac Bank.

Item no. 12 is an ordinance granting a conditional use permit to Roots to operate an antique, vintage and refurbished items shop at 7328 Manchester Avenue (presently Tigerlily). Patti Brightfield, Penny Dreyer and Nancy Kassabaum, are the owners of Roots which is presently located at 3104 Sutton Blvd.

Item no. 13 is an ordinance that allows for dogs and other animals to be temporarily banned for 60 days from public property if they create a public health hazard, safety concern or create any other nuisance to the public.

Item no. 14 is an ordinance which amends Ordinance No. 5689 which approved the Preliminary Development Plan and Preliminary Subdivision Plat for QuikTrip. The Plan and Zoning Commission, at their May 6, 2013 meeting, approved these amendments by a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent.

  • Allow southbound traffic on Martini Avenue
  • Eliminate the purchase of 2547 S. Big Bend and building a road between Martini Avenue and Big Bend
  • Require the installation of solar-powered flashing signs at all entrances/exits to the QuikTrip property

Item no. 15 is an ordinance authorizing the city manager to execute an agreement between the city of Maplewood and St. Louis County for Computer Aided Report Entry Services (C.A.R.E.). The cost for C.A.R.E. for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013 will be $30,815. 

Item no. 16 is a discussion of how $64,000 in block grant money should be used.
