Saturday is the Last Day for The Book House in Rock Hill

Everything is 40 percent off on Saturday. They hope to reopen in Maplewood in time for Christmas.

The Book House, with plans to move from Rock Hill to Maplewood, is open on Saturday, then will be closed for at least a month while its new location, in the 7300 block of Manchester Road, is prepared. Proprietor Michelle Barron said she hopes to open in Maplewood in time for Christmas.

Barron said anything still on the shelves is 40 percent off.

Saturday, Barron is hosting a Banned Books Party from 7 p.m. to midnight. The suggested donation is $5.

The party was originally planned to be in the basement of the new Maplewood spot, but Maplewood officials "thwarted" that, according to Barron. It's now at the original store, at 9719 Manchester Road.

Watch for The Book House fund-raisers, and find Barron at the Schlafly Farmers Market on Oct. 16.

While the move is taking place and the store is closed, Barron said it will be possible to buy books through The Book Store website or by phone (314-968-4491).
