Schlafly Farmers Market Opens Next Wednesday

The market is one of the earliest to open in the market season in the St. Louis area. Market Master, Brian DeSmet, gives a report.

On Wednesday, April 4 from 4-7 p.m., the Schlafly Farmers Market opens for the start of the 2012 farmers market season.

The Schlafly Farmers Market, located in the parking lot of the , continues its tradition of being one of the earliest producer-only farmers markets in the St. Louis region.

The 2012 season marks the market’s ninth season at the Bottleworks and the market –previously the Maplewood Farmers Market – is being re-branded as the Schlafly Farmers Market.

Since the market is part of Schlafly’s Sustainability Program and has been hosted at the Bottleworks since its inception, we decided the name should reflect its close connection with Schlafly Beer. Schlafly is proud not only to produce great local products, but to support farmers and other businesses doing the same.

New vendors this season include Art House Coffee, MOFU Soy Beanery and Windy Lake Farm.

Many favorite vendors like Biver Farm, Claverach, Farrar Out Farm, Live Springs Farm and Three Rivers Community Farm also will be returning.

The market also features live music on the patio, local Schlafly beer, and tours of the Gardenworks–the Bottleworks restaurant garden.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
